Hello, I’m Julie.
(Yes, I know that I look like a teenager. I haven’t been one for quite some time.)
I’m a Michigan native. I grew up in rural northeastern Michigan (fondly referred to as “the Thumb”). After high school I attended a state university and graduated with a BSN in December 2007. After graduation, I packed up my new degree and my husband (who was more than happy to have a break from the snow) and headed for the more temperate climate of southeastern Virginia. But, sometimes, it’s true that absence makes the heart grow fonder. After over three years of being away from our families, we (mostly me) were homesick.
We’re now back in Michigan but residing in a city where neither of us has lived before. We’ve been away long enough that we feel somewhat like tourists so I have decided that it would be fun to explore the great places that real tourists come from other states to see. This blog is going to be the place where I document my “getting-to-know-you-again” experience with Michigan. But it won’t strictly be about exploring my new city and other Michigan attractions. I have a wide variety of interests. For example, I like to craft (stay tuned for an idea featuring some freshly fallen leaves) and I’m also a huge nerd so you may find a post about a book I’ve read or some exciting healthcare research or whatever I see fit to share.
So if you have any questions or suggestions of places that I should visit in Michigan, feel free to drop me a line. Thanks for stopping by!
